November Sets Record

MERCY MED:FLIGHT transported a record number of patients during November.  The upgrade to a jet air ambulance on November 1st allowed MMF to transport 9 patients into or out of 17 cities in 12 states literally spanning the country.  The previous monthly record was 7 patients.

An example of the added capability MMF now possesses was demonstrated by a mission that took place over a two day period.  The first day they transported a patient from Dallas, TX to El Paso, TX. After delivering the patient in El Paso, the crew continued on to San Bernardino, CA where they spent the night. On the second day, a patient who had been waiting for us in San Bernardino was transported to Marion, IN before the crew returned to home base in Ft. Worth.  Total distance traveled on that mission was 3,900 miles.

This type of two day mission was repeated three more times during the month where MMF was able to transport a patient on both legs of a mission.  Being able to schedule missions in this manner gives them a 100% improvement in their aircraft utilization.  It also provides a quicker and more comfortable ride for the patients.

These types of missions would not have been possible with MMF's older, propeller driven air ambulance.
